Mackenzie…..Substack notes bringing me to u is the only good thing substack notes ever did. I am dying laughing u are so mf funny my poor roommates will never hear the end of this
I’m so glad you popped up in my Substack feed. Your writing is delightful.
This is absolutely brilliant:
“It’s okay to be normal. Being normal won’t strip your special from you. Your idea of normal might be the thing that actually makes you more special. Maybe the things you do to be special are making you like everyone else.”
This reminds me of a funny story. I was sitting in the grass of Washington Square park on a sunny afternoon with my girlfriend when a drunken bum came up and offered us a hit of his wine. Before we could decline his offer, with lightning speed he whipped off one of her shoes and proceeded to slobber all over her foot. Saying, “I loves wommins foots.” I got my hand on his face as he licked my palm and shoved him away. Girlfriend was pretty upset. A few days later she tells me that the same guy had attacked a friend of hers, a musician, in the same way as she was rehearsing on the stage of the Jazz Workshop surrounded by other musicians.
Cutting every corner to never wash a dish had me laughing so hard!!! I thought I was the only one who did this!! My goal is life is to wash the least amount of dishes possible! LOL
I love you and may or may not be attempting a September similarly styled writing project like this bc it was really beautiful and an amazing way of documenting life. Hope ur ok with inspiring people.
It has come to my realization that I have also been in situations where I have unwillingly smelled “Birkenstock feet” (idk how else to describe the smell) lmao
Personally, I thank you for ‘ hampster wheel.’ Who needs a wee rodent - I give you Mr Hamster— riding around when there’s a laundry basket conjoined to a dumpster out there to admire?! Brilliant.
this truly was one of the most relatable and entertaining pieces i've read in a while. and my future rich self would 100% budget for someone to cook and clean for me bc this takes an ENTIRE weekend
